„Quiet Pass“ ist das epische Debütalbum von SLEEPING PANDORA, dem Soloprojekt von Mathias Rosmann, seines Zeichen ehemaliger Gitarrist von COSMIC FALL. „Quiet Pass“ enthält sechs lange Stücke, die gemeinsam auf eine Spielzeit von rund 80 Minuten kommen. Der geneigte Hörer bekommt hier sehr sphärischen und harmonischen Space Rock, garniert mit psychedelischen und elektronischen Einsprengseln.

Das Album ist nicht nur lang, es ist auch sehr ruhig. Es ist so ruhig, dass mir die Arrangements mit den stets improvisierten Gitarrenaufnahmen fast schon vornehm zurückhaltend erscheinen. Die Gitarrenparts und die Soli sind mitunter luftig und richtig dynamisch, meistens aber eben auch gleichzeitig harmonisch und behutsam. Hin und wieder erinnern sie mich ein wenig an PINK FLOYD, etwa an „The Division Bell“. Auf die Dauer (80 Minuten können ganz schön lang sein) fehlen mir jedoch kontrastierende Spannungspunkte. Aber das ist ein Kritikpunkt den ich fast immer anbringe und der gänzlich meinem Geschmack geschuldet ist.

Auf „Quiet Pass“ gibt es aber nicht nur Gitarren zu hören. Rosmann greift immer wieder auf elektronische Klänge zurück, die auch schon mal einen angenehmen 80iger-Jahre-Charakter haben. Das sind dann Momente, die mich aufhorchen ließen, da sie mich unerwartet ereilten und überraschten.

Auch wenn die Musik mit ihren spaceigen Gitarrenklängen und dem Chillout-Gefühl eben die Bedürfnisse nach selbstvergessenem Wohlklang befriedigt, was selten mein Ding ist, hat sie auch Elemente die mir richtig gut gefallen. Etwa diese 80iger-Synthesizerklänge oder die etwas tieferen und angerauten Gitarrenklänge in „Silvershaker“, die dann doch mal vorübergehend einen leichten Kontrast einbringen.

Sleeping Pandora - Quiet Pass DigipakIch bin wohl schlicht ein Getriebener und viel zu unentspannt, um mich 80 Minuten lang von psychedelischem Chillout-Space-Rock entführen zu lassen. Ich habe demnächst eine längere Autobahnfahrt quer durchs Land vor mir, da könnte „Quiet Pass“ der ideale Begleiter sein.

Wer gelassener und weniger verkrampft als ich ist, wer gerne mal die Augen schließt und sich einfach zurück lehnt, für den könnte „Quiet Pass“ genau das Richtige sein. Zumal ich Mathias Rosman für einen exzellenten Gitarristen halte.
